We love Waikanae Retreat because it is only 1 minute from the beach. The surf beach is safe for children and is a great sweep of sand and sea.

There is a grass reserve over the road with picnic areas, a children's playground, a petanque court and a tennis court. The shop, cafe, Art Gallery are 1 minute's walk.

There is a bird and nature reserve , a 10 minute flat walk away and wonderful walks in the area. The area is great for bike riding.

Waikanae Retreat is sheltered and often if it is windy on the beach we are sunning ourselves in the garden.
